As a key part of Transport for London’s River Action Plan, a pier extension, comprising to further pontoons was embarked upon, allowing an increased capacity for passengers of the frequent River Bus services, calling at Woolwich, North Greenwich and Westminster. Billericay Glass were tasked with creating glazed enclosures with a minimal framework, to act as waiting rooms. The result is an unobtrusive series of screens that let the light through and make the most of the Thames view.
We supplied and fitted a large amount of glass on the Westminster pontoon, the majority of the glass was 17.52mm toughened laminate grade A safety glass. A glass door was also fitted onto the pontoon. The overall opening we had to cover was over 15000mm wide, however the job was completed on time with precision and quality in place.
